With each compartment holding one gallon, this two compartment
feeder sits on top of the hive boxes, just under the inner cover. Bees access
the feeding area through an open slot that runs cross-ways in the middle. After
syrup is poured into compartments, slow-to-sink pine slatted floats can be
placed on top of the syrup, preventing drowning. Or you can choose screen to
cover the center bee slot and allow bees to suck syrup through screen holes.
The bottom is recessed 1/8” to minimize rocking on burr comb left on the top
bars of the box below it. When we assemble, seams will be caulked to ensure
that it is leak-proof.
